Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer

Along with my team-mates The Artisans and thousands of others, I'll be embarking on a 200km ride this October to raise funds for research to conquer cancer.

Having battled cancer myself last year and now continuing the battle this year, this is a cause close to my heart.  I want to do something about this disease and I need your help!  My commitment to raise at least the minimum $2500 will significantly help cancer research, and all the training needed for this ride will, I hope, get me back to full pre-treatment strength.

Please contribute to this history-making event with a donation.  My employer, Ajilon, have kick-started the fundraising with a generous amount and are promoting it through their Community Program to help get the word out.

Cancer is a serious problem but now it's your turn to be part of the solution!   Remember that by making a donation you're making a commitment to eradicate cancer - something that touches almost everyone at some point through family and close friends if not directly.

Funds raised in The Ride to Conquer Cancer will support groundbreaking, critical cancer research being undertaken at the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR), Western Australia's premier adult medical research institute, investigating the genetic and environmental causes of a range of diseases.  See "Where Your Dollars Go".

Thank you in advance for your help, and please stay up to date with my fundraising and training progress here on this page's Web Log (below), at My Fundraising Blog and on Strava.  Please follow or subscribe!

Just Like Fabian Cancellara
Cancellara broke his collarbone 2 weeks after I did mine, and needed surgery too. So how do I compare to him? Well he's currently leading Le Tour de France which I guess is a pretty good recovery ... maybe just beating my efforts. :)
My excuse is of course I don't have the luxury of being paid to train. I'm sure he too has to do all the daily physio exercises, physio visits and rehab work at the gym (totalling around 10-12 hours a week at the moment) but then gets to ride instead of sitting at a desk for 40 hours.
Where I'm going with this is I'm struggling to find time to train, and it tapered off last month. A bad 10-day virus didn't help either. :(
May - 418km, 38 rides
June - 209km, 23 rides
Back to the drawing board I guess ... but whatever, come October I'm sure she'll be right!
