Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer

 I was motivated to enter this event by Abbie Basson who died of Ewing's Sarcoma last year at the age of 20. She was determined to support sarcoma research and awareness and specifically to start a PhD scholarship in the field of sarcoma research. She had the idea of odd socks as an identifier, as many people who have sarcoma have to have amputations and therefore only need one sock (or glove). A team of us are riding under the "Sock it to Sarcoma" banner wearing the appropriate accessories!

Welcome to my Personal Page! The Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR), is a cycling journey throughout the scenic countryside of Western Australia that I am embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!

Personally, I have many friends and family who have struggled with cancer. My son had thyroid cancer (all clear now!) as did a dear friend, my mother in law passed away from cancer, as did my Grandmother and Grandfather. My gorgeous sister in law is bravely battling cancer for the 3rd time.

If you think of all the people around you who have been touched by cancer in some way, I think you will be surprised. Research is crucial to ease suffering and find answers for a cure. Of course this takes time and money.

Funds raised in The Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer will support groundbreaking, critical cancer research being undertaken at the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research, Western Australia's premier adult medical research institute, investigating the genetic and environmental causes of a range of diseases.
