I have seen the devastating effects cancer can have on family, friends and loved ones.

I was only very young when my mothers best friends youngest son was diagnosed with leukemia. Justin was only a few years older than myself at the time, unfortunatley Justin did not survive, and I remember going to see him with my mother only a few weeks before he passed, its something I will never forget.

Just recently my best friends grandmother passed away after her second battle with breast cancer, she was a lovely lady who did more than her fair share of good in the world, and the beautiful funeral service the family held for her was a celebration of her life, and showed how strong, loving and selfless she was.

Also, a close friend of mines father passed away from prostate cancer after a long 10 year battle, and my grand mother has survived two battles with bowel cancer, she is a trooper!

So, I have seen parts of the battles cancer sufferers, survivors and their families have faced or are facing, and I want to help them in their fight by raising as much money as I can to help the WAIMR, and I think riding 200km over 2 days is a small ask considering the trials they face every day!

Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR), is a cycling journey throughout the scenic countryside of Western Australia that I?m embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!

Funds raised in The Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer will support groundbreaking, critical cancer research being undertaken at the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research, Western Australia?s premier adult medical research institute, investigating the genetic and environmental causes of a range of diseases.
