AN EPIC RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER
|
I first saw the advertisement for this ride late last year and thought "This is something I can do to to help".
I went along to an orientation night not long after registering to do the ride and was really touched by the impact this ride has on so many people. It got me thinking about the people in my life that are or have been affected by cancer. As the ride guide said to us "every second person you look at is in some way affected by cancer whether it be themselves, their family or someone they know"
That got me thinking about the people in my life that have had or do have cancer. My Aunts Penny & Leanne. My beloved grandparents, Stan and Alma have both recently passed after battling this disease. My grandmother on my mother's side. My very dear friends, Lester and Kerry. My friend Roscoe who committed suicide rather than fight as he had seen his best friend die of the same cancer.
When I ride out of Perth on the 20th October, I will be riding for all of the people I know that have passed away or are still battling. I will ride knowing that I have done my best to raise funds to try and find a cure for this horrible disease.
I am dedicating my ride to the memory of my grandparents.
Contribute to this history-making event with a donation. Funds raised in The Sunsuper Ride to Conquer Cancer will support groundbreaking, critical cancer research being undertaken at the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research, Western Australia's premier adult medical research institute, investigating the genetic and environmental causes of a range of diseases.
Thank you in advance for your help.
